Clippers vs. Grizzlies prediction and odds for NBA Summer League

The Clippers aren't really interested in developing young players, and the result is a 28-year-old leading scorer in Xavier Moon who won't be able to keep shooting the lights out.

The Memphis Grizzlies have been as busy as any team in the NBA this summer. They have played five games including a 100-77 loss to the Cavaliers Monday night at the Cox Pavilion.

The Grizzlies are 1-1 in Vegas after going 2-1 in Salt Lake City and tonight will take on the 1-1 Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers were also in action Monday night and beat the Kings 80-70.

Both of these teams have playoff aspirations next regular season and will be looking for potential contributors to show themselves in the Summer League.

So far, Kenneth Lofton Jr. and Xavier Moon have been impressive and we’ll see those two lead their teams at the Cox Pavilion on Wednesday night.

Clippers vs. Grizzlies prediction and pick

There could be a bit of a talent disparity in this matchup. While the Grizzlies haven’t been picking at the top of the first round of the draft they’ve at least been picking in the first round. So, along with Kenneth Lofton Jr., who is something of a Summer League star, they have David Roddy and Jake LaRavia in their starting lineup.

Last time out, Roddy went for eight points and eight boards and LaRavia put up 15 points despite shooting just 1-for-8 from 3. The Grizzlies as whole didn’t shoot well from deep outside of Jacob Gilyard.

The Clippers on the other hand have been getting great shooting performances from Xavier Moon who is 7-for-11 from 3 in two games with 44 total points. Moon is a 28-year-old who has been the leader for the Clippers this summer, but if your team is lacking young talent so much that you need a 28-year-old to be the focal point of your Summer League team, then that is bad news.

Jordan Bowden is a 26-year-old who had 18 last game and went 4-for-6 from 3. The Clippers keep getting great shooting performances that can't last. I’m betting on them to regress from deep and for guys like LaRavia to knock down shots for Memphis and the Grizzlies to win this one and cover.

Pick: Grizzlies -3.5
