As Damian Lillard awaits his fate amid the trade saga, a surprising new trade destination was revealed. Of course, it’s the Golden State Warriors.

After 11 seasons with the Trail Blazers, Damian Lillard has requested a trade. The list of teams Damian Lillard wants to play for is incredibly short. In fact, it’s barely even a list. It’s more like a single bullet point.

  • The Miami Heat.

Now, Lillard’s commitment to Miami is serious. So much so that it’s been reported Lillard’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, has been cautioning prospective teams from trading for the star guard because he will be happy only in Miami.

However, in shocking news, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Lillard might’ve wanted to play somewhere other than Miami. Before the Warriors traded for Chris Paul, Shelburne reported that Damian Lillard was interested in joining Golden State.

“Dame is from the Bay Area. I know he was interested. If he got to the point where he was going to ask for a trade and the list was given, the Warrior would have initially been on that list.” Shelbourne said on 95.7 The Game.

NBA Rumors: Chris Paul trade ended Damian Lillard talk for Warriors

Hypothetically, the move makes sense for Lillard, a native of Oakland and a player looking to win now. Pairing Dame with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green sounds like something out of a video game.

Seriously, imagine what that fourth-quarter shot chart would look like. Talk about nightmare fuel if you’re one of the other 29 teams in the NBA. Though, with Chris Paul now on the Warriors’ roster, the rest of the NBA can relax.

According to Tyler Greenawalt of Yahoo Sports, Lillard’s agent Goodwin told ESPN’s Marc Spears that he’s hopeful a deal can come together between Portland and Miami during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas this week, but that timetable isn’t steadfast.

In Damian Lillard’s case, it looks like it’s going to be a long summer. Though, hopefully, a deal gets worked out where all parties can be satisfied.
