Dusty Baker is finally a World Series champion, and the Houston Astros players and coaching staff all celebrated with him once the final out was recorded.

The Houston Astros are World Series champions for the second time in franchise history after defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 6 on Saturday night. After trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning, outfielder Yordan Alvarez hit a monstrous three-run homer to dead center field to take the lead, and never looked back. Ryan Pressly closed out the game in the ninth inning to clinch the World Series victory.

Dusty Baker had never won the World Series as a manager, coming close in 2002 when leading the San Francisco Giants and in 2021 with the Astros. But now, he can say he has managed a team to a Commissioner’s Trophy.

What a tremendous moment for Baker.

During the World Series presentation ceremony, Baker was absolutely ecstatic. When Baker asked “what’s next,” he happily responded with “party!”

Baker is now the oldest manager to win the World Series at the age of 73-years-old.

As a player, Baker won a World Series title with the Los Angeles Dodgers back in 1981, when they defeated the New York Yankees in six games.

The Astros overcame a 1-2 series deficit after Lance McCullers surrendered five home runs in Game 3. Houston responded by throwing a combined no-hitter in Game 4 then holding off a Phillies comeback in Game 5 to head back to Houston with the chance to win the World Series for the first time at Minute Maid Park.

Dusty Baker, World Series-winning manager, sure does have a nice ring to it.
