The Houston Astros trolled the Phillies after Game 4 of the World Series, and used Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts to prove their point. Why is Jalen Hurts an Astros fan?

You want savage? The Houston Astros know savage.

Since the 2017 sign-stealing scandal, Houston’s social media account has become quite good at warding off potential haters. Frankly, they’ve had to make that adjustments. It’s not safe in the Twittersphere for Houston baseball fans, even five years after the fact.

Not only did Houston win Game 4 — they did so in humiliating fashion. Houston no-hit the Phillies on Wednesday night, thanks to six innings from Cristian Javier and three from their bullpen. It’s a combined no-hitter, which isn’t nearly as fun as one pitcher doing so on his own, but nonetheless still impressive.

The Astros trolled Philly on social media ruthlessly after the fact.

Why is Jalen Hurts an Astros fan?

Why is Jalen Hurts an Astros fan? Hurts is actually from the Houston area, so he has every reason to be an Astros fan. Despite his current pro football allegiance to Philadelphia, Hurts has never hid his Houston fandom. He’s unlikely to do so now that the Astros are in the World Series, even against the City of Brotherly Love’s beloved Phillies.

When Hurts’ Eagles went to Houston to take on the Texans in Week 8, he spoke to how excited he was to be playing in his hometown:

“Going back to Houston, it should be fun,” Hurts said. “It’s always been a dream of mine to play at NRG-Reliant Stadium and I’ve spent a lot of time in that city — my childhood, growing up in Houston, going to watch the Texans play, being in the Texans’ facility as a kid.”

Hurts is clearly a man who values his Texas roots. He’ll honor them, even if it means getting on the bad side of Eagles faithful.
