College Football icon Lee Corso missed Saturday’s College GameDay with an undisclosed illness, and he’s expected to return ‘pretty soon.’

ESPN football broadcaster and analyst Lee Corso missed Saturday’s College GameDay this past weekend with an undisclosed illness. It’s unclear how severe the illness is, but he’s expected to return ‘pretty soon,’ according to Creg Stephenson of AL.com.

Corso, a beloved college football figure, wasn’t allowed to travel to the University of Kansas for the game due to “doctors orders,” and he also missed the Clemson University game the week before.

It’s certainly concerning to hear of illness taking down the 87-year-old for two consecutive weeks, and it raises the question of whether or not he should return to College GameDay soon.

Should college football analyst Lee Corso come back to College GameDay so soon?

Depending on the severity of his illness and what the process was to overcome it, he should certainly take his return slow to avoid further complications. His age puts him at a higher risk of developing a serious illness, so it’s best to be careful.

If he stayed out of the hospital, has been monitored, and cleared by doctors over the course of his illness, then it’s likely okay for him to return as soon as he feels ready to.

The line is between whether or not he was in the hospital and how closely he’s been monitored. However, it seems as though he’s been monitored pretty closely considering doctors orders prevented him from being at the University of Kansas.

Analyst Kirk Herbstreit also offered some insight on the situation and stated, “But you (Davis) spoke with him, I had a chance to speak with him, I’m sure Desmond did as well, he does sound better. But I think by doctor’s orders, he wasn’t expected to be able to travel this week. But news is good with the tests he’s been receiving (that) next week he’ll be with us, wherever GameDay is, LC will be back here with us where he belongs.”

Regardless of when he returns, hopefully he comes back to full health soon.
