Timberwolves vs. Hawks prediction and odds for NBA Summer League

The Timberwolves keep playing in high-scoring contests and with Atlanta's first-round talents on the floor this could be another one.

On Monday night, the Minnesota Timberwolves got caught up in the Keyontae George storm that's been brewing in Las Vegas and fell to the Utah Jazz 108-96. Now, at 1-1 in the Vegas Summer League, the Wolves will face the 1-1 Atlanta Hawks who took a 98-93 win over the Nuggets last time out.

Minnesota shelled out all of its first round picks for Rudy Gobert last offseason, so it doesn't have any rookie first-rounders on the floor, but we’ll get a good look at Kobe Bufkin who was the 15th pick to the Hawks in last month’s draft.

Let’s get into the odds for this matchup.

Timberwolves vs. Hawks odds, run line and total

Timberwolves vs. Hawks prediction and pick

Not only do the Hawks have Kobe Bufkin on the roster who put up 17 points, five rebounds and six assists, in their win over Denver last game, but they also have A.J. Griffin who was their first-rounder last year. Griffin only had six points in that game on 1-of-4 shooting from 3.

Though the fact that the Hawks have two first-round talents is more than Minnesota can boast.

Wendell Moore Jr. who was a first rounder of Minnesota last year did not play against the Jazz last game. The Timberwolves don’t have overwhelming talent, but they have been able to put up a lot of points. In their two games in Vegas they have a 102-88 win over New Orleans and a 108-96 loss to Utah. That’s a trend I think will continue for them because their lineup doesn't seem to be very defensively inclined.

Brandon Williams has been strong for Minnesota with 24 and 17 points in its two games. I think he’ll keep running a successful offense for the Timberwolves and with the shooting of Bufkin and Griffin the Hawks will keep pace. I’ll take the over in this one.

Pick: Over 182.5
